
Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue confirmed Wednesday that USDA will be offering a second round of Coronavirus Food Assistance Program aid, with more details expected after Labor Day.
USDA is accepting applications for CFAP Round 1 through Sept. 11, 2020. The original application deadline was Aug. 28, 2020.
Eligible commodities include: Specialty and non-specialty crops, wool, livestock, dairy, nursery crops and cut flowers, aquaculture and eggs.
As of Aug. 24, more than $9.2 billion has been paid to 557,592 producers, with Iowa producers receiving the most aid. In total, 48,255 applications have been approved from Iowa producers and payments totaling more than $921 million have been paid.
Rounding out the top six in payment amounts:
- Nebraska, $663 million;
- Minnesota, $573 million;
- Texas, $544 million;
- California, $515 million, and
- Wisconsin, $503 million.
Cattle producers have received the most payments at $3.992 billion. Other commodities in the top 10:
- Milk, $1.699 billion;
- Corn, $1.634 billion;
- Hogs, $573 million;
- Soybeans, $466 million;
- Cotton-upland, $237 million;
- Almonds, $86 million;
- Potatoes-Russets-Fresh-RUS, $55 million;
- Sheep, $38 million, and
- Strawberries, $38 million.
The top states receiving aquanursery payments:
- Louisiana, $9 million;
- Alabama, $776,458;
- Missouri, $381,689;
- Florida, $301, 561;
- Mississippi, $294,380, and
- Oregon, $231,729.
The top states for dairy payments:
- Wisconsin, $333 million;
- California, $251 million;
- New York, $161 million;
- Minnesota, $105 million, and
- Pennsylvania, $101 million.
The top states for livestock payments:
- Iowa, $454 million;
- Texas, $407 million;
- Nebraska, $397 million;
- South Dakota, $319 million;
- Oklahoma, $317 million;
- Kansas, $314 million;
- Missouri, $246 million, and
- Minnesota, $238 million.
The top states for non-specialty payments:
- Iowa, $415 million;
- Illinois, $293 million;
- Nebraska, $255 million;
- Minnesota, $228 million, and
- Indiana, $134 million.
The top states for specialty payments:
- California, $167 million;
- Florida, $75 million, and
- Idaho, $51 million.
