The 2021 Pipestone Lambing Time Short Course and Tour will be held in virtual format Feb. 5-6.
The short course, hosted by Minnesota West Community and Technical College, offers instruction to help producers recognize and effectively deal with common lambing time problems. It focuses on the management prior to, during and after lambing and the effect it has on lamb losses, pounds of lamb marketed and input costs and labor requirements. The virtual tour will provide producers the opportunity to see firsthand how other producers recognize, manage, and deal with lambing time challenges.
Here is the agenda for the 2021 course and tour on Feb. 5:
- 6:30 p.m. Registration
- 7 p.m. Welcome; opening remarks by Philip Berg
- 7:15 p.m. Ewe and lamb health concerns
- 8:15 p.m. Virtual farm tour
- 9:30 p.m. End of evening program
This is the agenda for Feb. 6:
- 7 p.m. Welcome
- 7:15 p.m. Low labor lambing, with Philip Berg
- 7:45 p.m. Getting lambs off to a good start, with Ann Kolthoff
- 8:15 p.m. Virtual farm tour
The minimum enrollment is 20 people, and the maximum is limited to 100 paid registrants. The cost is $99. To complete the Registration Form, you will need to download Acrobat Reader, which is free.
North Dakota and Wisconsin residents will be charged a higher tuition cost unless a reciprocity form is completed. A copy of the completed reciprocity form must accompany your registration form. Go to Reciprocity Information for more details and the application form for your state.
