Red Bluff Bull and Gelding Sale manager Adam Owens is stepping down after the 2020 sale, he tells Western Farm Press.
"We are beginning to search for my replacement and are about to fly the position," he said in an email.
Owens, a fifth-generation rancher, took the reins of the bull sale at the Tehama District Fair grounds in 2010, replacing Ron Anderson, who held the position from 2001-2009. Owens' great-grandfather, Roy Owens, helped start the sale nearly 80 years ago and his grandfather, Bill Owens, was the sale's president in the 1980s.
The Red Bluff event is one of the West's largest livestock-related gatherings, featuring sales of replacement heifers, cattle dogs and horses in addition to bulls. During his tenure, Owens added a Western art show and other activities.
The 2020 sale will be held Jan. 21-25. For information or to inquire about the position, click here.
