The Sustainable Farming Association of Minnesota encourages dairy farmers interested in soil health practices to apply for scholarships offered by the Kiss the Ground Farmland Scholarship Program.
The Farmland Program, funded by corporate and individual donations and grants as well as collaborations between local farms and restaurants, provides scholarships to farmers who want to follow soil health practices and need assistance. Farmers may be either beginning or established in soil health management.
Kiss the Ground will offer three-year program scholarships. Funds will help cover costs of comprehensive soil testing in year one and year three, on-farm coaching and mentoring, and farmer attendance at the Soil Health Academy and other educational programs.
Kiss the Ground, an exhibitor at SFA’s Midwest Soil Health Summit, has offered its scholarship program in California and is now expanding to Minnesota. The organization is targeting funds to dairy farmers who would like to use soil health and regenerative agriculture practices, including grazing.
SFA has agreed to serve as coach and mentor to participating producers. Plus, SFA will help with the soil testing.
The scholarship deadline is March 31.
